One of the most interesting parts of fashion is how trends are dispersed throughout the world. Depending on the region you are in, trends will be different as they correlate to things like weather, income, and lifestyle. Temperatures in Paris during the winter months are fairly low, but that does not keep Parisians from staying stylish. Here are a few trends that Parisians are following to keep warm this winter.
1. Leg Warmers
The newest way to get away with wearing skirts and dresses in the winter is to pair them with leg warmers. Whether you choose to wear them with a pair of loafers, sneakers, or underneath your tall boots, they will be sure to elevate any look while adding an extra layer of warmth to your legs. With an array of colors to choose from, you can stay neutral or add a pop of color.
Scarves are worn by everyone in France. From young kids to elderly women, it is unlikely you will pass someone on the street without a scarf on. This trend is extremely practical as it adds another layer of warmth, especially to your neck and face, keeping you comfortable and protecting your skin from the wind. Bright colors and patterns have been incredibly popular this year among Parisians. Plaid seems to be especially favored and can be found at a majority of local shops.
3. Earmuffs
The Parisians sacrifice no style in order to keep warm. Another chic way they tolerate the cold is with a pair of earmuffs. With the large array of color options available, everyone can find a pair that suits them and matches their winter style.
An extremely popular trend seen on the streets of Paris is the North Face Puffer Jacket. Worn mainly by twenty and thirty-somethings, this puffer is a classic piece that goes well with your favorite jeans and sneakers.
While some of these trends may be seen in the U.S., they are most definitely filling the streets of Paris. Try them out if you find yourself extra cold this winter, or store them away for a Parisian twist on next year’s winter wardrobe.
