The fashion event of the year has finally returned to its normal date: the first Monday in May. This year, the gala continued its celebration of American fashion with “In America: Anthology of Fashion''. Vogue identified this year's dress code as “Gilded Glamour”. Once again, the Square Magazine directors watched in anticipation to find the best looks from this star-studded night.

Last night marked the first Monday of May, meaning the biggest night in fashion has come and gone. Knock the dust off of your high school history book, because the theme for this year’s eagerly awaited Met Gala is “Gilded Glamour”. The theme of the institute’s collection refers to the Gilded Age in United States history, specifically focusing on the years 1880-1900.

Now that the 2022 Met Gala is behind us, we have been able to take a breath just long enough to notice that some of our favorite gala-goers did not attend last night’s event. Frequenters of the historic Met steps like Rihanna and Sienna Miller were among many whose personal interpretations of the theme were missed.

The 2022 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala is here. This year’s theme, “Gilded Glamour”, is one that memorializes the gilded age of American history through fashion. Blake Lively, a co-chair of this year’s event, wore a Versace gown that transformed from copper to blue just as the metal does due to oxidation through a process known as patina.

Based on what can be seen through the second-hand festival experience of scrolling through post-concert images, musicians’ stage style was the star of this iconic two-weekend desert party.
